Things to Do in Daytona Beach, Florida (And Where We Fit In)

Daytona Beach gets summed up as "the beach with the Speedway" a lot, which undersells it. There's a real mix of things to do here beyond the sand, and if you're putting together a trip, it's worth knowing what's actually in town versus what's just a name people repeat.

The beach itself

Daytona's beach is one of the few in Florida where you can still drive a car onto the sand. It's a roughly 23-mile stretch, with vehicles allowed on designated sections from sunrise to sunset. If you've never done it, it's a genuinely different experience than a normal beach day, parking included.

Daytona International Speedway

This is the one most people already know. It's home to NASCAR's Daytona 500 and hosts events and track tours throughout the year, even outside race weekends. If you're into motorsports at all, it's worth the stop regardless of when you're visiting.

Ponce Inlet Lighthouse

A short drive south of the main boardwalk, the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse is Florida's tallest lighthouse, built in the 1880s and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1998. You can climb it, and the view from the top covers a big stretch of the inlet and coastline.

The Boardwalk and Pier

Daytona's boardwalk and pier area is the classic beach-town strip: arcades, food stands, and the pier itself stretching out over the water. It's touristy in the way boardwalks usually are, but it's a real fixture of the area and worth a walk even if you're not buying anything.

Daytona Lagoon

For families or anyone wanting something less sun-dependent, Daytona Lagoon has an indoor arcade, laser tag, and a waterpark section. It's one of the more kid-oriented stops in town.

Where we fit in

Florida weather doesn't always cooperate, and afternoon storms in particular can wipe out a beach day fast. That's exactly where our Daytona Beach location at 607 N Atlantic Ave comes in — a few minutes from the boardwalk. We're not a beach activity, we're the opposite of one: a rage room, axe throwing, VR, and a paint room, all indoors, all bookable in a 30-to-60-minute window if you need to fill a gap in the day or just want something different from another afternoon on the sand.
